Build Relationships. Create Opportunity. Drive Impact. Acuren is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Indigenous Relations Advisor to support our operations across Canada. This intermediate-level role is foundational to advancing Acuren’s Indigenous Relations commitments while strengthening our market position and supporting sustainable business growth. This position is an intermediate level role, that supports the organization at the country level. The role partners closely with Operations, General Managers, Business Development, Procurement, HR, and Executive Leadership to strengthen Indigenous partnerships that enhance market access, support contract acquisition, mitigate project risk, and contribute to sustainable revenue growth. This position leads the implementation of Acuren’s Indigenous Relations Program to:
- Support successful pursuit and execution of projects requiring Indigenous engagement
- Strengthen Acuren’s competitive positioning in regulated and community-based markets
- Enable workforce participation and supplier inclusion aligned with client requirements
- Advance economic reconciliation in ways that create measurable business impact
The incumbent will be deeply engaged in Indigenous communities, passionate about relationship-building, and committed to creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous peoples. This role is foundational to delivering Acuren’s Indigenous Relations commitments as outlined in the Project Charter and the Indigenous Relations Policy. Role Details:
- Our head office is based in Sherwood Park, Alberta, candidates can be based there, or flexible work locations are available for candidates living on reserve land or those with access to suitable office space on reserve land.
- Monday-Friday 40 hours/week.
- Travel across Alberta, British Columbia and other provinces will be required (30-35%).
ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Market Integration
- Align Indigenous Relations strategy with regional and national business plans.
- Support proposals, client engagements, and Indigenous participation plans.
- Identify opportunities where proactive engagement strengthens license to operate and revenue growth.
Community & Partnership Development
- Build and maintain long-term, sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Advise leadership on community protocols and reputational risk.
- Identify partnerships that create shared economic value and reduce project risk.
Workforce & Supplier Participation
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Operations to advance Indigenous workforce participation and community-based talent pipelines.
- Strengthen Indigenous supplier engagement and track participation metrics.
Governance & Reporting
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to workforce, supplier engagement, and community outcomes.
- Provide quarterly updates to Executive Leadership.
- Ensure alignment with legislation, client requirements, TRC Calls to Action, and UNDRIP.
Leadership Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Executives and General Managers.
- Promote culturally respectful, commercially strong partnerships across the organization.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences, Community Development, or related field; equivalent community-based experience also considered.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Indigenous Relations, community engagement, HR, Workforce Development, Social Impact, DEI, or similar roles.
- Experience working directly with Indigenous communities, Elders, community organizations, or Indigenous-led employment programs.
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) is considered a strong asset and will be prioritized in recruitment, consistent with Acuren’s commitments to Indigenous inclusion.
