Ubisoft Confirms Layoffs at Abu Dhabi Mobile Studio

Ubisoft has officially confirmed the loss of 29 roles at its Abu Dhabi office in the United Arab Emirates. This announcement came after affected employees shared news of the layoffs on LinkedIn, highlighting the personal impact of corporate restructuring.

The Restructuring Decision

In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, Ubisoft explained: "In November, Ubisoft made the difficult decision to restructure its Abu Dhabi mobile studio, discontinuing some projects in order to focus on Growtopia. As a result, this change impacted 29 team members. We remain deeply grateful for their contributions and are providing support to them throughout the transition."

The affected staff included professionals working across social media, game support, and art direction, with posts indicating the restructuring occurred in late 2025.

About Ubisoft Abu Dhabi

Broader Context of Ubisoft Layoffs

This announcement is part of a larger pattern of job cuts at Ubisoft. Recent developments include:

  • Cuts at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm announced just yesterday

  • Restructuring into Creative Houses, with details expected this month
