SNL's Political Jabs

Tonight’s episode of Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live was filled with political zingers. Co-host Colin Jost even took a playful jab at Mike Myers, who appeared as Elon Musk during the show's cold open.

While joking about “sworn-enemy Canada,” Jost quipped, “That’s right: those syrup-guzzling, Poutine-munching, moose-humping hockey sluts have taken advantage of us far too long; even right here at SNL, American sketch comedy jobs are being stolen by filthy Canadians,” flashing an image of Myers on screen.

More Political Humor

Next up, Che addressed President Donald Trump’s claim that “no president has changed government faster than him,” adding, “Yeah, and nobody changed airport security faster than Bin Laden.”

Jost humorously remarked, “Speaking of Tesla CEO and white Kanye, Elon Musk,” which drew the loudest cheers of the night. He noted Musk wore a suit instead of a jacket and a T-shirt to the Cabinet meeting after Trump mocked his clothing, reinforcing that bullying still works.

Che then joked about Musk, saying, “On Thursday, Elon Musk’s Space X starship exploded just minutes into its mission, which is how he ended up with all those kids.”

Additional Jokes

Referring to reports that leaders of Great Britain and France have been coaching Volodymyr Zelensky on dealing with Trump, Che said, “It’s kind of like how you need extra training to be a special ed teacher.”

Jost received loud boos with the quip: “Donald Trump Jr. is reportedly considering a run for president in 2028, and if you don’t think he could win, you clearly aren’t familiar with how things work here in hell.”

Also on Weekend Update, Kenan Thompson reprised his impersonation of ESPN sports analyst Kendrick Perkins, while Mikey Day made a rare appearance as Lady Gaga’s posh British “husband, Lord Gaga.” In a meta-joke, Lord Gaga expressed his fears about a wife earning more money, prompting Jost to stare at the camera in defeat.
