Ontario Shifts to Employer-Led Process for Job Offer Streams: What You Need to Know

Ontario is making significant changes to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) Employer Job Offer streams, transitioning from an applicant-led to an employer-led process. Starting July 2, foreign nationals will no longer apply directly; instead, employers must initiate applications through the new OINP Employer Portal.
Key Changes and Timeline
- June 20 to July 2: No new Expressions of Interest (EOIs) will be accepted.
- June 21-22: Existing EOIs will expire and be automatically withdrawn.
- June 27-29: OINP’s online system will be temporarily unavailable.
- July 2: The new Employer Portal opens for registration.
Affected Streams
- Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
- Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream
- Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream
Foreign nationals with existing EOIs must collaborate with their employers to resubmit profiles under the new system. New EOIs registered after July 2 will be valid for 12 months and eligible for future program draws.
Additional Upcoming Changes
- Inspectors may conduct in-person interviews with OINP applicants.
- Job posting platforms will need dedicated sections for reporting fraudulent ads.
- Review of how employers access electronic candidate information, focusing on privacy practices.
For those impacted, the province promises more details soon on navigating the new employer-led process.
