WASHINGTON - In a dramatic turn of events, Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and former advisor to President Donald Trump, has launched a scathing critique against the president's latest legislative package. Musk warns that the bill could lead to the loss of millions of jobs across America, labeling it as "political suicide" for the Republican Party.
Musk, who previously served as the head of the advisory Department of Government Efficiency, had initially toned down his criticism following his departure from the government on May 30. However, he reignited his attacks just before the Senate's critical vote on the bill, expressing his concerns on social media to his 220 million followers.
"The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" Musk declared. He further criticized the bill for favoring "industries of the past" at the expense of "industries of the future", a move he described as "utterly insane and destructive".
Despite his earlier apologies for some of his posts about Trump, Musk's latest comments underscore the growing tension between the two figures. Trump, on his part, has attributed Musk's outbursts to the withdrawal of government subsidies for electric vehicles and the rejection of Musk's preferred candidate for NASA leadership.
This unfolding drama highlights the significant impact of political decisions on the job market and the economy, raising questions about the future of employment in America under the current administration.
