With continuous updates to the underlying ADP payroll databases, this report offers a high-frequency, near real-time measure of U.S. employment. As of January 2025, ADP's Pay Insights measure captures nearly 14.8 million individual pay change observations each month, a significant increase from nearly 10 million at its launch.
Dr. Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP, noted, "Unease is the word of the day. Employers are trying to reconcile policy and consumer uncertainty with a run of mostly positive economic data. It can be difficult to make hiring decisions in such an environment."
