Winpak designs, manufactures and supplies the most sustainable packaging solutions that reduce food waste, extend freshness and promote health. The company is publicly traded on the TSX under WPK.

Winpak’s Winnipeg operation, specifically the Winpak Division, is a key part of the company’s global packaging business, focusing on healthcare and food packaging. The plant employs over 1,000 staff and is in the midst of an exciting US$100M expansion which will add over 200,000 square feet and once complete, will house the production of recyclable packages.

Winpak is seeking an accomplished Director, Operations to lead its flagship Winnipeg manufacturing facility. The mandate of the role will be to drive operational excellence, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and deliver measurable performance improvements. The Director will oversee both the Extrusion and Converting divisions, each with its own senior management, and will be tasked with building a stronger alignment across the plant to operate as a unified enterprise.

Reporting to the General Manager, Winpak Division, the Director, Operations will drive alignment between departments, foster proactive quality management, standardize and enforce SOPs, and instill a culture of accountability. They will be responsible to plan, organize and direct production, purchasing and maintenance groups to ensure the most effective return on assets. Beyond managing day-to-day operations, the Director will have the opportunity to develop continuous improvement initiatives across the plant—championing Lean principles, empowering cross-functional problem-solving, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned operations leader with a proven track record in large-scale manufacturing environments. They will combine proven people leadership skills with hands-on operational and technical expertise, able to unite diverse teams and deliver measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and customer responsiveness.
