Analyst - Corporate Planning

This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Corporate Planning, this role will deliver high-value, actionable financial performance insights to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).  The Corporate Planning team is responsible for leading budget and forecast cycles, advising on the financial impacts of key strategic initiatives, and developing the framework for internal financial reporting and valuation. The key deliverables of the team include a monthly business review, annual budget, long-range financial plan and ad-hoc support on prospective acquisitions, divestitures, and/or strategic partnerships. Responsibilities

• Analyze WestJet’s financial results and develop meaningful insights that lead into actions to enhance the company’s financial performance
• Support the delivery of the monthly financial reporting package to the ELT and Board of Directors
• Coordinate the monthly review of departmental financial performance and investigate variances
• Assist with the development of the annual budget and maintenance of the monthly financial forecast
• Benchmark WestJet’s financial performance with key competitors
• Prepare in-depth analysis to inform company strategic decisions
• Partner with key stakeholders to improve process efficiency and accuracy
• Manage monthly traffic reporting (flight movements and passenger data)
• Assist with other corporate planning portfolios including capital, lease provision, and group synergies
• Be an active member of the Finance team; willing to mentor and coach peers, brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests, and be flexible in completing any task

Qualifications

• Completion of post-secondary education
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in financial analysis; previous airline experience is an asset
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, and forecasting skills
• Ability to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in a high-paced environment
• Naturally curious, detail-oriented individual that takes great pride in delivering high-quality results
• Proven ability to conduct detailed financial analysis, synthesizing insights into clear and concise presentation materials
• Expert proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Onestream or Oracle/Hyperion experience would be an asset
