Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Vancouver, BC, for a Dock Master / Lead. The Dock Master / Lead will oversee daily dock operations, manage dock staff, and ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of goods. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with safety standards, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, inspecting dock equipment, and ensuring smooth flow of logistics. The Dock Master / Lead will play a pivotal role in optimizing operations and fostering a collaborative team environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and supervise Loading Dock Operators to maintain operational excellence.
- Oversee all loading dock activities, including traffic flow, access control, and deliveries.
- Monitor reservation systems, signalization, and CCTV for safety and efficiency.
- Conduct equipment inspections, maintain audit logs, and prepare accurate reports.
- Coordinate with vendors, delivery personnel, and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Train, mentor, and coach team members to deliver top-notch service.
- Handle scheduling, key/access management, and delivery logistics.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in logistics or loading dock operations.
- Experience with dock procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Valid security license and Occupational First Aid Level 1 or higher.
- Conflict Management and Resolution certification.
- Strong report-writing and record-keeping skills.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Physically able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) with excellent communication skills.
