Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Bricklayer role based in Ottawa, ON. The Bricklayer will lay bricks, stone, and concrete blocks to construct and repair walls, walkways, retaining structures, and other landscape features. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting drawings, preparing and leveling surfaces, mixing mortar, cutting and shaping materials, and ensuring accurate alignment and finishing. The role involves working outdoors in varied weather conditions, using hand and power tools safely, and collaborating with supervisors and crew members to complete projects on time and to specification. The Bricklayer is expected to maintain a clean work area, follow safety procedures, and uphold quality standards on every job.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated bricklaying and masonry skills, including laying bricks, stone, and blocks, mixing mortar, and finishing joints to a high standard.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings or layout plans and follow project specifications accurately.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting materials, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of construction and site safety practices, including safe use of hand tools, power tools, and personal protective equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, reliable work habits, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in bricklaying, masonry, or landscape construction is an asset; relevant trade certification or apprenticeship is considered an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to job sites in Ottawa, ON.
