Project Summary
Court Technology Services (CTS) within Alberta Courts is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of several high-impact initiatives. The primary focus will be the modernization of the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, which currently lacks the capabilities required to meet operational, compliance, and security standards. The role also supports broader transformation initiatives including Justice Digital, CTS Transformation, and technology modernization across Alberta Courts.
This position will play a critical role in aligning stakeholders, managing technology implementations, and ensuring the successful execution of complex, multi-site projects.
About the Role
The Ministry of Justice is embarking on a Point-of-Sale (POS) modernization to upgrade outdated technology used across 80+ court locations. We're looking for a seasoned Project Manager to lead this and other strategic digital initiatives across Alberta Courts.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—including Court Administration, Finance, IT Services, and Procurement—to design and deliver a scalable, secure, and efficient POS solution that integrates with existing justice systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex IT and business transformation projects
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, workshops, and decision-making sessions
- Drive change management and risk mitigation strategies
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with GoA privacy and security policies (e.g., PCI-DSS, data residency)
- Support integration with legacy systems like JOIN and new cloud solutions (SaaS or on-prem)
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- 5+ years of experience in executing strategies involving technology, process, and people
- 5+ years of experience facilitating risk and impact assessments
- 5+ years delivering executive-level communications and presentations
- 5+ years building and maintaining stakeholder relationships
- 5+ years applying analytical and problem-solving skills in complex environments
- 5+ years of business writing, documentation, and communication
- 5+ years of experience implementing change management practices
- 5+ years working with information management, privacy, and security issues
- 5+ years in developing and executing communication plans
- 5+ years collaborating across cross-functional IT and business teams
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- 5 years in a senior management role within a complex organization
- 2 years creating flowcharts, diagrams, or strategy-related visual documentation
- 2 years evaluating programs, policies, or initiatives
- 5 years in a leadership and/or facilitation role
- 5 years managing projects in a government or public sector environment
- 5 years conducting qualitative and quantitative cost-benefit analysis
- 2 years leading digital transformation initiatives
- 2 years managing large-scale technology changes impacting multiple business units
- 5 years experience in financial modeling and reporting
- 3 years with government planning and budgeting processes
- 5 years working with application development life cycles and methodologies
- 5 years developing business cases for diverse initiatives
- 5 years developing policies related to information management or similar fields
