Location: Calgary Head Office Department: Facility Integrity Reports to: Manager, Facility Integrity Worker Type: Contract Schedule Type: Full-time Work Setting: In-office Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Process Engineer (Contract). In this role, you will help support the integrity, reliability, and optimization of facility process systems within the Facility Integrity Management Program (FIMP). The successful candidate will support system assessments, operational troubleshooting, and compliance activities while working closely with Engineering and Operations teams and receiving technical support from process engineering consultants. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate process system performance, including piping systems, equipment, and associated process conditions.
- Assess operational data to identify performance gaps, process inefficiencies, and reliability risks.
- Recommend mitigation strategies to improve system integrity, operability, and efficiency.
- Review and verify process design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and control philosophies.
- Support internal engineering reviews for new installations, modifications, and process changes.
- Assist in resolving process design non-conformances and operational issues.
- Define and maintain safe operating envelopes (pressure, temperature, flow) for facility systems.
- Support data-driven monitoring of process parameters and ensure alignment with design limits.
- Assist in identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure process engineering activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., CER, ABSA/TSBC interaction where applicable, CSA Z662).
- Support preparation and review of technical documentation, operating procedures, and regulatory submissions.
- Assist with audits and regulatory inspections related to facility process systems.
- Provide process engineering support for incidents, process upsets, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Participate in root cause analyses and develop process-based corrective and preventative actions.
- Evaluate transient conditions and operating scenarios to prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to development and improvement of process engineering standards, operating procedures, and design guidelines within FIMP.
- Support implementation of best practices for process safety and operational excellence.
- Support oversight of third-party engineering consultants performing process design, simulations, and studies.
- Review consultant deliverables for technical accuracy and alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, integrity, and project teams to support safe and efficient operations.
- Provide technical guidance related to process systems and operating strategies.
- Support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
Qualifications And Professional Experience
- Post-secondary education in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- P. Eng designation with APEGA or EGBC preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in process engineering, facility operations, asset integrity, or project engineering.
- Strong knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, fluid flow, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Familiarity with pipeline and terminal operations and applicable codes (CSA Z662, API standards where applicable).
- Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS or equivalent) is an asset.
- Understanding of process safety principles (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA).
- A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.

Working Conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
