IGI is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is critical in supporting the accurate costing of materials and products across all business units, including our Blend and Refinery divisions. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for reviewing, developing, analyzing, and maintaining standard cost structures, ensuring costing accuracy, and contributing to margin and performance analysis.
The ideal candidate will possess strong manufacturing cost accounting expertise, preferably in the oil and gas, industrial gases, or chemical processing industry, and have experience working with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1) or a similar ERP system.
Responsibilities:
- Review, develop, and maintain standard costs for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods across all business units.
- Analyze cost variances (material, labor, and overhead) and provide actionable insights to operations and management.
- Work closely with plant operations and supply chain teams to understand product flows, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
- Assist in the development and optimization of product costing logic, including setup of cost drivers, routings, and BOM groupings (one-to-one or category-based).
- Conduct margin and profitability analysis at the material, customer, and product line levels.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with accurate cost rollups, inventory valuations, and journal entries.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance ERP costing functionality and resolve costing discrepancies.
- Lead and be responsible for standard cost revaluation processes.
- Support internal and external audit processes related to inventory and cost accounting.
Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of standard costing principles, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Experience in oil & gas, industrial gases, chemical processing, or complex batch manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1) or equivalent ERP system is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Travel Required: 25% within Canada and the United States
