P&C Commissioning Engineer

Our client, a major utility provider in British Columbia, is seeking a Specialist Commissioning Engineer (P&C) to join their team.

This role is central to the Protection, Control, and Telecommunications Engineering Division, performing final checks and acceptance of P&C devices before they enter the power system. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure assets are fully installed, tested, and commissioned to maintain a safe and reliable electric system.

This is a 1 year contract with potential to extend- hybrid in Vancouver.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the Professional of Record (PoR) for P&C commissioning results, signing and sealing engineering deliverables.
• Lead the testing and commissioning of specialized P&C systems and equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee the development of P&C staging plans with engineering teams and Control Centers.
• Prepare commissioning plans for complex systems and perform technical reviews of testing deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to project team members and field commissioning resources.
• Establish and maintain commissioning standards, practices, and quality assurance workflows.
• Identify risks and develop customized solutions to complex engineering problems.
• Chair meetings and deliver presentations to address engineering challenges and project updates.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (Computer, Control Systems, Telecom, or Power Engineering preferred).
• Registered (or immediately eligible) as a P.Eng. with EGBC.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive engineering experience in transmission power systems, ICS, or cybersecurity.
• At least 4 years of experience leading and coordinating P&C commissioning activities on medium to large-scale projects.
• Strong understanding of Project Management processes and the impact of projects on transmission system operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience as a P&C Designer or Setting Engineer is considered a strong asset.
