Junior Accountant

Our client is a global real estate company headquartered in Vancouver. They are a full service real estate operating company with a highly valuable assets under management. They are seeking a Junior Accountant to join their Real Estate Debt team. This person can be a new grad with an Accounting and Finance degree or someone with up to 2 years experience.

The Role:

• Record and verify the completeness and accuracy of daily investment transactions and related activities.
• Perform monthly close procedures, including bank reconciliations, preparation of month-end accruals, amortizations, and other required adjustments.
• Prepare monthly subledger and general ledger reconciliations and supporting working papers.
• Reconcile units, holdings, and transactions for pooled funds and segregated portfolios at month-end.
• Execute valuation entries and foreign exchange roll-ups for pooled funds and stopper entities.
• Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including disclosures and working paper files, in accordance with applicable policies and reporting standards.

The Candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Actively pursuing, or planning to pursue, a CPA designation.
• 0–2 years of accounting experience; financial reporting experience considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS reporting standards.
• Experience or familiarity with investment accounting and/or mortgage investments is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
