We are recruiting a Principal Accountant for a fully remote, permanent, full-time opportunity. Our client is headquartered in Ottawa, and they are considered a global market leader in business communications. Reporting to the Director, General Accounting, this role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting, including journal entry preparation and approval, month-end closing, and account reconciliations, while also supporting global standardization initiatives and ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and a hands-on, investigative approach. In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your analytical and troubleshooting abilities and how to confidently navigate complex accounting issues while ensuring accuracy and control. Main responsibilities include:
- Managing the full global accounting cycle for a set of comprehensive balance sheet accounts, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving cross-regional discrepancies
- Ownership of lease accounting activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, while partnering across functions to accurately record and reconcile the restructuring provision
- Supporting internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and timely resolution of audit requirements
- Analyzing financial data for accuracy and compliance, while identifying and supporting process improvements and global standardization initiatives
- Supporting ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA designation complete or in final stages required
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical accounting skills
- Good understanding of IFRS and ASPE
- Prior experience in audit is considered an asset
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
