Human Resources Coordinator, Shop Makers
Job Description
Posted on: October 18, 2025
At Shop Makers, we understand that our most valuable asset is our people. As our HR Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture, ensuring that our team feels supported and motivated. You'll be an integral part of our mission to provide opportunities and support to local artisans, creating an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive.
Join us in building a workplace where talent is nurtured, and the spirit of community resonates in every aspect of our operations. At Shop Makers you won't just be part of a growing small business (22 stores across BC, AB, ON, and MB and counting!); you'll be a key player in our mission to empower local artisans and make a positive impact on the cultural fabric in communities across Canada! This role reports directly into our People & Culture Lead, and is highly administrative-based.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate employee records in different systems, including setting up accounts on platforms, and ensuring a smooth transition for new hires and departing employees.
- Provide HR administrative support: draft and send employee contracts, enforce policies, execute benefits/RWAM administration, and support general employee lifecycle changes (team updates, promotions, etc).
- Roll out and maintain training documentation to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting pre-screen interviews and coordinating interviews with hiring managers.
- Act as a point of contact for People & Culture related inquiries, assisting in conflict resolution, and supporting internal communications to promote company culture and values.
- Coordinate company events, recognition programs, and team-building activities.
- Support employee feedback mechanisms (employee surveys) and helping analyze results to improve the work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven experience in HR or administrative functions, preferably in a similar role.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's degree or Certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations in multiple provinces.
- Experience using Lattice, WhenIWork, or Quickbooks.
Location and Schedule:
At this time, we require the applicant to reside near/in Vancouver, BC as this is a hybrid remote position. There is a requirement to work 2 days a week in our Mt. Pleasant office. The schedule is 4.5 days a week, with half-day Fridays, and includes 3 weeks of vacation and extended benefits after a successful probation period. The pay for this role is $45,000 with an annual performance-based bonus.
