Description Job Description Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), The University of Manitoba, and Department of Surgery (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for an Orthopaedic Surgeon to commence on August 1, 2025 (or on a date mutually agreed upon). Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 65% of the position. The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 35% of the position. Job duties are required in English. The successful candidate will join an established and cohesive group of four other subspecialty-trained academic orthopaedic trauma surgeons. They will be expected to participate in a 1-in-5 call schedule. Clinic and operating time will be provided. Teaching of medical students, orthopaedic residents, and orthopaedic trauma fellows affiliated with the University of Manitoba will form part of normal daily activities. As part of the academic group, the successful candidate will be expected to both lead and participate in specific research activities. To this end, candidates with an advanced degree supporting research and/or education will be given preference. The group performs the majority of complex, tertiary orthopaedic trauma in the province of Manitoba and adjacent regions (approximately 1.6 million people). The team cohesiveness has been key to the success of the group, and, therefore, the successful candidate must have a team-oriented approach to clinical and academic work and appropriate supportive skills to achieve these goals. Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. They must have completed at least one year of fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma and must be comfortable with complex musculoskeletal trauma management. Hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship training would be beneficial as well. Compensation Compensation is derived from a blending of fee-for-service income and a Minimum Income Guaranteed.
