Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s Geoanalytical Laboratories- Geochemistry team has multiple openings for Lab Assistants to join the Sample Preparation area. These individuals will perform rock and mineral sample preparation as part of a larger team process to support laboratory analysis for mining and minerals clients. This Lab Assistant position is a labourer role that will require heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds) and work in a dusty environment.
Accountabilities
- Prepare samples for analysis which includes labelling samples, transporting them throughout the lab, and using equipment to crush and grind samples
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and shared lab spaces
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all SRC Health and Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- No experience required; all necessary training will be provided
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- The use of safety equipment (foot protection, lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses) is required and will be provided
Skills
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to take on varied tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment with high attention to detail
- Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and Turn Around Times (TAT)
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
