Role Description The Site Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily construction activities on residential and commercial projects. This role manages site crews and subcontractors, ensures work is completed according to plans, specifications, and safety standards, and maintains a clean, organized job site. The Site Superintendent monitors schedules and milestones, coordinates material deliveries, and reports progress, issues, and risks to project managers and other stakeholders. The position also involves conducting site inspections, resolving on-site challenges, documenting site activities, and supporting quality control to ensure projects are completed to RPMI’s standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience (10 years or more) supervising on-site construction activities for residential and/or commercial projects, preferably with a general contractor or project management firm.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and related documents, with strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and coordination of trades, including managing site logistics and material deliveries.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe job site for all team members and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with trades, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
- Proficiency with basic digital tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, construction management or reporting software); experience with construction-specific platforms is an asset.
- Ability to work on site full time in Calgary, AB, including in varying weather conditions, and to adapt to changing project priorities and timelines.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant site experience; trade certification is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to various sites in and around Calgary.
