Our client is looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to oversee and maintain their cybersecurity framework by implementing and monitoring advanced security controls across both on‑prem and cloud environments. The role focuses on proactively identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks. This position is fully onsite in Regina. Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To

  • Deliver detailed security incident investigation reports and post‑incident, lessons‑learned documentation for any cybersecurity incidents
  • Provide ongoing vulnerability‑scan outputs and remediation‑tracking reports (using Tenable One) to give stakeholders visibility into risk levels and remediation progress
  • Prepare routine security‑posture and compliance summaries, including Azure Secure Score dashboards and related metrics, to keep management informed of current status and ongoing improvements
  • Document alignment of security controls with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and applicable CSA standards to support regulatory audits and internal compliance requirements
  • Maintain up‑to‑date cybersecurity deliverables such as security‑policy documents, standard operating procedures, network diagrams, and system security plans for nuclear‑related projects and systems.

Your strengths include:

  • Over 5 years of hands‑on experience in IT security or cybersecurity, with university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Security
  • Proven background working with cloud and enterprise security technologies, including Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft Defender suite, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), and vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable One
  • Skilled in configuring and leveraging these tools for threat detection, analysis, and automated response
  • Competency with PowerShell, JSON, Kusto Query Language (KQL), Logic Apps, or similar scripting languages
  • Strong understanding of industry cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and applicable CSA security standards
  • Solid knowledge of incident response processes and best practices for managing cybersecurity incidents
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the capability to evaluate complex systems for security risks
  • Experienced in examining system logs, alerts, and forensic data from network, endpoint, and cloud sources to identify and resolve security threats
  • Experience in highly regulated or critical infrastructure sectors — such as energy utilities or the nuclear industry — is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements and challenges in industrial or power system environments, including SCADA/ICS systems, is beneficial
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate are an advantage
