We're a young, growing company in the renewable energy space, working on development of Utility Scale Renewable Energy projects across multiple Canada Provinces. We're looking for a Project Finance Analyst to join us on this mission.
You will work directly with the CFO and the project development team to support the realization of large-scale renewable projects focusing on wind, solar and battery storage . This is a hands-on, learning opportunity for someone with first-hand experience in financing multi-million-dollar projects.
What You`ll Do
- Build and maintain financial models for renewable energy projects
- Support the structuring and negotiation of renewables project financing - equity, debt, grants - and government incentives
- Support preparation of project applications with financial model results and scenario analysis for Request for Proposals of procurement processes in Canada´s key energy markets
- Assist in capital raising processes and prepare investor and stakeholder presentations – internal and external
- Analyze project risks, returns, and commercial structures
- Collaborate with our development, engineering and procurement managers to evaluate project costs and configurations
- Translate technical and financial data into clear, actionable insights
- Monitor project performance and key financial metrics from project origination, during project development, bid preparation and NTP
- Contribute to contracting and procurement strategies with a financial lens
- Research and benchmark project costs, and project economics recognizing up to date market insights and regulatory frameworks
- Support the CFO with high-priority analyses, shareholder materials, and ad hoc projects
- Jump into ad hoc projects to support leadership decisions as needed
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience in project finance, modeling, or a similar role
- Experience working with financial institutions or capital providers such as banks, insurance companies, or public funding programs
- Interest in and understanding of regulatory frameworks and their impact on the renewable energy sector – you follow how policies and incentives are evolving
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in Excel / financial modeling (including IRR, DSCR, cash flow analysis, and sensitivities)
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Great communicator – able to explain complex financial terms in simple language
- Passion for clean energy, climate tech, and building something meaningful
- Comfortable working across teams and juggling multiple projects
Strong candidates will also bring:
- Progress towards CPA, CFA, or other financial designation
- Experience with Canadian energy markets
- Exposure to government funding programs or tax equity
