Instrumentation Technologist

  • Contract Length: 9 Months
  • Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Raise is currently hiring an Instrumentation Technologist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection Description As an Instrumentation Technologist, you will play a critical role in the design, maintenance, and optimization of control systems that keep ’s mining and milling operations running safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) engineering lead to transition concepts into functional engineering deliverables. This is a "bridge" role where technical drafting meets field-ready engineering, requiring a mix of high-level precision and practical troubleshooting logic. Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Support: Assist the discipline lead in developing detailed designs for industrial control systems, including PLC/DCS hardware layouts.
  • Deliverable Creation: Produce and update essential engineering documents such as:
  • P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Loop Drawings and Instrument Indexes.
  • Wiring Schematics and Control Panel Layouts.
  • Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD to maintain high-quality technical standards for all project drawings.
  • Project Coordination: Manage multiple priorities to meet project deadlines while ensuring compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and ’s internal standards.
  • Field Support (Optional): Assist in the commissioning or troubleshooting of instrumentation loops and control hardware.

Qualifications

  • 4–9 years of experience in an industrial or heavy-industry setting (Mining, Oil & Gas, or Power Generation preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with instrumentation specifications, data sheets, and control valve sizing.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and industry safety standards (e.g., CSA, ISA).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) is a significant asset.
  • Ability to translate complex technical data to various stakeholders; high organizational skills to manage competing deadlines.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized polytechnic or technical institute.
  • Eligibility for or active registration as an A.Sc.T. (Applied Science Technologist) or C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) through SASTT or an equivalent provincial body.
