Job Details DescriptionPosition Manager I - Employment Retention Specialist (ERS) Team Location Calgary or Edmonton Type Full Time, Contract - 6 months Starting Salary $70,000 Closing Date November 14, 2025 What will you do? Reporting to the Manager III, the Manager I handles day-to-day direction of Direct Services staff and assists with planning, coordination, and support of Prospect’s programming and resources. This may include training of new staff, handling staff schedules, mentoring and coaching, and working with the Manager III on more complex human resources or programming issues. The Manager I assists in administering the program including setting goals and providing delivery of program initiatives to maximize outcome achievement. Program Oversight
- Leads a small program, contributes to a larger program, or oversees a defined functional area.
- Manages daily delivery of program or functional activities, ensuring alignment with contracts, organizational standards, and Prospect’s mission.
- Supports development of work plans, monitors progress, and adjusts operations to meet goals.
- Monitors day-to-day activities to identify issues, service gaps, or workflow challenges, escalating complex matters to more senior leadership as appropriate.
- Maintains records and reporting in compliance with confidentiality and privacy legislation.
- Contributes to funding reports, proposals, or functional documentation with oversight from more senior leadership.
- Keeps current with labour market trends, best practices, and relevant tools to guide staff effectively.
Leadership & Team Supervision
- Provides direct supervision to a small team, offering coaching, guidance, and mentorship.
- Leads team meetings, provides consultation on program or functional work, and fosters ongoing staff development.
- Participates in recruitment, onboarding, and performance review processes in collaboration with a more senior manager.
- Addresses minor performance concerns and escalates complex or persistent issues to more senior leadership or HR.
- Models leadership behaviors aligned with Prospect’s values of inclusivity, equity, and client-centered service.
Financial & Operational Administration
- Approves routine program or function-related expenses within delegated authority.
- Tracks expenditures and raises concerns about budget variances with their Manager or Senior Manager.
- Supports payroll-related administration including attendance and Paid Time Off (PTO) tracking.
- Contributes to internal and external reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Acts as a secondary contact for funders or functional stakeholders, contributing to reports or communications under the oversight of more senior leadership.
- Supports maintaining community or employer relationships and representing the program or functional area at events as required.
- Assists in developing employer or functional partnerships in collaboration with more senior leadership.
What does it take to do this job?
- Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of related professional experience, preferably in community services, social enterprise, or administrative operations.
- Some leadership or supervisory experience preferred, including direct responsibility for staff guidance, coaching, or team coordination.
- Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., MS Office Suite) and adaptability to learn new reporting or database systems.
- Experience with data management and reporting using CRM or database platforms (e.g., Mobius, Salesforce) is an asset.
- Foundational understanding of program delivery practices, employer engagement strategies, or administrative operations, depending on functional assignment.
- Awareness of budgeting principles and funder requirements; ability to support budget tracking and reporting with guidance from senior leaders.
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen actively, respond with empathy, and foster a respectful, supportive team environment.
- Skilled in applying conflict resolution approaches to maintain team cohesion and resolve challenges constructively.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Models professional presence in internal and external interactions, representing the team and organization positively.
- Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) in leadership and service delivery.

- Travel is required for this role throughout Alberta. A valid driver’s license is required.
