We are currently recruiting a Legal Assistant to join our Intellectual Property Department in our Ottawa office. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a team of Patent Litigation Associates and Articling Students, in addition to a team of Legal Assistants. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative, high attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The position requires very strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to strong client service skills, and organization. Position Requirements: Education and Experience The successful incumbent will have a Community College Certificate in a Legal Secretarial Assistant program or equivalent. Ideal candidate would possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Legal Secretarial Assistant role. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable. Knowledge and Skills
- Strong communication, organizational and technical skills (MS Office suite).
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian Patent Litigation would be an asset.
- Proactive, and work well in both a team and independent work environment.
- Show initative and display an interest in developing their knowledge of this practice area.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Impeccable attention to detail is required.
We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the Ottawa office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
