Are you a cookie lover? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance Coordinator based in our Bakery in Montreal, Canada!
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Coordinator supports the implementation and maintenance of the facility’s Food Safety and Quality Programs, ensuring compliance with GMP, HACCP, FSMA/CFIA, and SQF requirements. This role is hands-on and plays a critical part in daily production oversight, sanitation verification, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIESFood Safety & Quality Operations
- Verify the quality and safety of incoming raw materials and packaging materials.
- Monitor food safety and product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Verify adherence to approved recipes, formulations, and processing parameters.
- Conduct in-process and finished product inspections to ensure specification compliance.
Sanitation, Allergen & Environmental Controls
- Monitor and verify the sanitation program, including pre-operational and operational checks.
- Perform sanitation verification activities, including ATP, allergen swabbing, and environmental monitoring as required.
- Support corrective actions related to sanitation, allergen control, and environmental results.
Documentation & Verification
- Complete, review, and verify QA and production records for accuracy and compliance.
- Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly QA tasks.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory and SQF requirements.
GMP & Compliance Oversight
- Conduct GMP, food safety, and quality inspections of products, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Ensure employees comply with food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements.
- Escalate deviations and support root cause investigations and CAPA activities.
Training & Team Support
- Support training of production and sanitation employees on GMP, food safety, HACCP, and SQF requirements.
- Act as a food safety resource on the production floor, promoting a strong food safety culture.
Audits, R&D & Continuous Improvement
- Assist with SQF, customer, and regulatory audits, including preparation and follow-up.
- Support R&D trials and first production runs, including sampling and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining the supplier approval program, including documentation review.
- Participate in quality and cost-reduction initiatives as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance within a GFSI-certified food manufacturing facility.
- HACCP Certification (required).
- PCQI Certification (beneficial)
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety regulations.
- Understanding of food manufacturing documentation and regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute QA tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and R&D teams.
- Bilingual English/French is an asset.
