This post presents an exciting opportunity to work with the West of Scotland Adult CF Service (WoSACFS), based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) Glasgow. The WoSACF service has increasing numbers of patients and psychology are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary medical team. This post will join an existing 0.5 WTE Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist. The WoSACF service cares for people age 16 and over, offering both outpatient and in-patient care to people from Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Arran, plus other health board areas. The post-holder will have responsibility to ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality clinical psychology service within the WoSACFS, alongside other psychology colleagues. This is a dynamic and fulfilling role working across both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing psychological assessment and psychological therapy. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to offer advice and consultation on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and deliver teaching and training where applicable. Further duties include referral management; psychology assistant supervision; joint work with multi-disciplinary colleagues when required/appropriate; and driving innovation and service development to ensure the evolving needs of the patient population are met within a progressive and person-centred healthcare environment. The Post-holder Will Also Be Required To

  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
  • Provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Doctoral training.
  • Undertake service development which may have an impact beyond own area of practice.
  • Represent psychology at MDT meetings, plus board and national meetings, where appropriate
  • Other delegated supervisory, training, teaching or leadership responsibilities within specialist team, or wider Acute Clinical Psychology team, as appropriate.

The post-holder will be required to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. The post will be professionally aligned to the Acute Physical Health Psychology Service which operates across NHS GGC and is hosted within the Acute North Sector. We provide specialist, comprehensive psychological services across a range of Clinical Health and Neuropsychology specialities and this post-holder will join a group of over 50 staff, providing a supportive Psychology collegiate. You should demonstrate advanced theoretical and practical knowledge as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist which has been obtained through post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology as accredited by BPS or HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology and two or more distinct psychological therapies. In addition to this, you should be HCPC registered as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. The hours for this post are worked between Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm.
