NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included. The Role The phlebotomy department provides a venepuncture service on behalf of all services within the Acute Division of NHS Greater Glasgow and CLyde. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of the Phlebotomy Service to wards in hospitals within the Acute Division, thus ensuring target times are met and adhered to for the delivery of blood specimens to the laboratories. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Part-time position (20 hours per week)
  • Permanent Contract
  • Shift pattern for this post are five days over the seven

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure correct identification and labelling of these samples and accompanying documentation
  • Liaise with phlebotomy team leaders regularly throughout the working day and clinical staff at ward level
  • To ensure compliance of operating procedures and written Divisional Policies are adhered to:
  • Infection Control
  • Health & Safety
  • Incident Reporting
  • To ensure that “Patient Confidentiality” in line with written protocols, is maintained at all times
  • To provide cover for other phlebotomists in the event of annual leave or periods of sick leave

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • The post holder will be educated to standard grade level or have equivalent level of experience
  • The post holder will possess excellent communication, team-working and time management skills
  • Reliability and self-motivation
