The Role We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care to join the Hospital Palliative Care Team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise as an autonomous practitioner delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients with complex and life-limiting conditions. Within NHSGGC, you will be part of one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, committed to innovation, excellence and continuous professional development. You will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, shaping and improving palliative services while supporting patients and their families through challenging journeys. You need to have a live NMC UK PIN to be considered for this post.Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: Full Time, Permanent Base Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Shift Pattern: 5 over 7 days per week Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, advice and holistic care to patients with palliative care needs across acute settings
  • Act as an expert clinical resource supporting patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams in symptom management and care planning
  • Deliver education and training to staff, patients and families to enhance understanding and quality of care
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across primary, secondary and tertiary care to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Lead and contribute to service development, audit and implementation of evidence-based practice within palliative care
  • Promote person-centred care addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs
  • Demonstrate leadership through role modelling, supporting colleagues and influencing high standards of care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • First-level Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration experience in palliative care
  • Educated to honours degree level or working towards this qualification
  • Evidence of, or willingness to undertake, postgraduate study aligned with advanced practice
  • Significant experience in caring for patients with life-limiting conditions, including complex symptom assessment and management
  • Demonstrable knowledge of palliative care guidelines, policies and best practice standards
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a commitment to continuous learning and service improvement
