The Role As part of this team you will have responsibility for assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the ward environment. You will possess sound clinical skills for the assessment of patient's needs, implementation and evaluation of care which are evidence based. You will have the ability to work to high clinical standards in this fast paced environment. You are required to be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment. A fundamental part of the role is to participate in communications as part of the Multidisciplinary team to enhance the patient journey. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and should be able to work on your own merit supported by the wider nursing team. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Full-time position (37 hours per week)
  • Shift pattern for this post are12 hour shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the ward to ensure adherence to, and delivery of the highest level of patient care at all times.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of individual care needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for patients.
  • Participate in clinical audit, ensuring the quality of patient care is assessed and implemented to ensure maintenance of standards of care and practice.
  • Assist the ward sister / charge nurse to lead, motivate and retain the nursing team, enabling educational needs of nurses to be met reflecting service requirements and developments.
  • Contribute to, and support, the provision of clinical practice placements for pre- and post-registration students to ensure fulfilment of curriculum requirements and provision of educational opportunities.
  • Participate in the effective and efficient management of the nursing resource to optimise skill mix at all times.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Nurses on the NMC Register (Part 1 & 12)
  • Minimum of 3 years post registration experience.
  • Relevant managerial and clinical skills.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Educated to, or working towards degree level or equivalent level of experience.
