The HR Advisor is a permanent full-time position based at Nch’ḵay̓’s Head Office on the Squamish Nation’s Xwemélch’stn (Capilano) Reserve in West Vancouver, B.C.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The HR Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the Human Resources function by providing guidance and support to employees and managers across a range of HR areas. This position is responsible for contributing to the effective implementation of HR programs, and initiatives, with a strong focus on recruitment and onboarding, training and development, performance management, benefits administration, HRIS management, employee engagement, and reporting and data analysis. The HR Analyst will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of HR best practices and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AUTHORITY, AND ACCOUNTABILITIESRecruitment and Onboarding:

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, posting positions on relevant platforms, sourcing candidates, screening applications and resumes, conducting interviews, and administering assessments.
  • Develop and extend job offers and manage the negotiation process.
  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring a smooth and engaging transition into the company culture and their roles.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment and onboarding documentation.

Reward

  • Evaluate salary, benefits, and other compensation data to ensure competitive and equitable pay structures.
  • Design and implement compensation programs, including salary ranges, bonuses, and incentives.
  • Perform benchmarking studies to compare company compensation with industry standards.
  • Ensure compensation practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with HR and management to address compensation-related issues and provide recommendations.
  • Generate detailed reports and presentations on compensation trends and analysis.

Performance Management:

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on the performance management process.
  • Assist with the administration of performance reviews, ensuring timely completion and appropriate documentation.
  • Support the development and implementation of performance improvement plans.
  • Analyze performance management data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training to employees and managers on the effective use of the performance management system.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Liaise with benefit providers to resolve employee issues and ensure program compliance.

HRIS Management:

  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of employee data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Process HR-related transactions in the HRIS, such as new hires, terminations, and changes in employee information.
  • Generate reports from the HRIS to support various HR initiatives and provide insights to management.
  • Assist with the implementation of the HRIS.
  • Develop and deliver training to users on how to effectively utilize the HRIS for relevant tasks.

Employee Engagement:

  • Support the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Assist with the administration of employee engagement surveys and analyze results to identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Assist in organizing employee events and activities.

Reporting and Data Analysis:

  • Generate regular and ad-hoc HR reports on key metrics such as recruitment, turnover, training, and performance.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making.
  • Present data and findings in a clear and concise manner to HR management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure data privacy and compliance with relevant regulations.

Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor

  • Reports to Manager, People Experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceExperience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation or willingness to pursue the CPHR designation within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and relevant employment legislation in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Familiarity with training and development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience supporting performance management processes.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration and relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS systems (e.g., UKG).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and present data.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with First Nations and in particular the Squamish Nation is a requirement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) required.

Special Requirements

  • Willing to work additional hours and off-site as required.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel to other locations.

Expected Salary Range

$67,000 - $77,000 - $88,000

Our typical hiring range will be +/- 5% of the midpoint shown above.
