Position Title Assembler Reports To Production Manager Based In Ottawa, ON Term Full time About Nanometrics With over 37 years of seismic technology and industry application experience, we are a global, award-winning company providing monitoring solutions and equipment for studying artificial and natural seismicity. From mission-critical seismic arrays, tsunami and early earthquake warning systems in over 90 countries across the globe to induced seismicity monitoring in the energy sector. Nanometrics specializes in full-service, integrated solutions for studying artificial and natural seismicity, including turnkey seismic networks, industry-leading precision instrumentation, complete data processing, analysis services, and software applications. About the role:  The Assembler reports to the Production Manager and assembles instruments and sub-assembly builds according to established procedures and works through troubleshooting while maintaining production schedule. A Day In The Life

  • Electro-mechanical assembly of products using jigs, hand and power tools
  • Perform soldering/desoldering functions associated with surface mount and through-hole components as per IPC-610
  • Read and understand assembly instructions, drawings and other technical documents
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve assembly related issues
  • Identify product or material defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are noted
  • Ensure accurate data collection and recording
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Complete all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety

What you bring to the team:Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Post-secondary diploma in a related field preferred
  • 1 year + of experience as a Mechanical Assembler
  • Basic soldering skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Commitment to quality and safety with strong knowledge of Workplace Safety best practices
  • Work independently and complete daily tasks in a timely manner

Physical Requirements

  • This position may require prolonged periods of sitting and/ or standing
  • This position requires a high level of dexterity

Assets

  • Experience assembling harnesses and cables
  • Soldering experience
  • IPC - 610 certification or training
  • Experience with fine wire
  • Experience with a microscope
