As a Senior Reclamation Specialist, you will join our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful applicant will be primarily office-based, and they will primarily oversee assessment, remediation and reclamation projects based on individual technical strengths. Responsibilities associated with the role will be as follows:
- Actively participate and drive Montrose’s strong safety culture
- Act as a leader in the workplace using Montrose Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects
- Lead communication with client’s program management teams and project related stakeholders
- Provide support to project managers
- Provide senior review and approval of technical deliverables and scopes of work
- Prepare and/or review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports, including regulatory submissions
- Work within a well-organized, and innovative culture with support systems that empower our professionals to focus on providing high quality solutions to our clients
- Transfer knowledge, share experiences, and support the training and mentorship of colleagues
- Support business growth and development for the reclamation portfolio
- Be a senior member of our technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, and growth and success at all levels
What Are We Looking For:
- Technical diploma or degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, land reclamation or a related field
- A minimum of ten (10) years previous consulting experience in a directly related role including experience managing and executing various reclamation and vegetation management projects with a minimum of 5 years of experience getting regulatory closure for reclamation work on oil and gas sites
- Registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. SIA, AIA)
- Previous experience in a consulting environment with a proven background managing reclamation projects including surface reclamation, revegetation, vegetation management, and detailed site assessments
- Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans and cost estimates
- Familiarity with compiling and reviewing Alberta Combined Assessment Tool and Record of Observation (RoO) form, Conditional Adjustment of Reclamation Liability (CARL) from, Record of Site Condition submissions, and Reclamation Certificate applications
- Understanding of improvements releases and overlapping exemptions
- Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool is an asset
- Familiarity with the contaminated sites closure process is also an asset
- Strong data evaluation skills and ability to make decisions based on findings
- Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to provide effective technical direction and mentorship to other professionals
- Function effectively as part of a collaborative team
- A working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada
- A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
