My client, is a well established sheet metal manufacturer located in Edmonton, AB.
About the Role
The Finance Manager will collaborate with Production, Sales, and Supply Chain to drive financial performance and compliance. In this role, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the business line's operating environment and projects. This includes inspiring and developing employees, assisting in growing the business, following a vertical strategy and for meeting and exceeding fiscal objectives. The Finance Manager will work strategically and collaboratively with the President, Ownership Group, and General Manager supporting overall business fiscal health.
Responsibilities
- You provide guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies.
- You recommend changes to policies and establish procedures.
- You work on issues of diverse scopes where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including understanding of current business trends.
- You manage the coordination of activities of the Finance and Administration Department with responsibility for results.
- You provide financial insights to the President, Ownership Group, and General Manager, focusing on enhancing working capital, operating cash flow, and P&L performance.
- You monitor, report, and analyze financial performance for operational and project-related activities, offering support to the other departments.
- You identify and communicate risks and opportunities, proactively addressing potential issues.
- You maintain effective controls related to data storage and access.
- You collaborate with Sales and Operations to create the annual financial plan and monthly forecasts.
- You mentor and manage the performance and career development of your direct report.
- You gain a thorough understanding of key contractual agreements with clients and vendors and assist in developing models and strategies for large, complex project bids.
- You will ensure approval and control all company expenditures and ensure maintenance of all assets.
- Expectations of and contributions from the Finance Manager are high in the minds of the customer, the company and employees.
- You will perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
- You will lead and monitor financial performance with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting against goals to ensure progress is being made, and corrective action is taken to ensure financial health.
Qualifications
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field.
- You have 10+ years of relevant financial management experience.
- CPA designation is not required but is considered an asset.
Salary Range
$85,000 - $95,000

- You have excellent analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions.
- You have advanced financial analytical skills including cost control.
- You have financial management experience in a metal manufacturing or project-based environment. This includes job costing and analysis of profitability of each work order.
- You have proven experience building relationships with operational leaders and project teams, influencing business decisions and outcomes.
- You have strong commercial acumen, along with excellent financial modeling and business analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data effectively.
- You have the ability to adapt to and drive change.
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to collaborate and influence at all organizational levels.
- You have demonstrated experience in leading and developing a team.
- You have a strategic mindset, ability to embrace change, foster innovation, and consistently seek opportunities for improvement.
- You have excellent Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills. You have excellent knowledge of other accounting software (knowledge of EVO software would be an asset).
- You have strong written and verbal English language skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
- You have a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. You have sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- You have experience or good knowledge with CSA / UL / NEMA / IP is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- You will work full-time, 44-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
- You can work additional hours to accommodate demands.
- You can work in an extremely fast-paced environment and work under pressure.
- You will work in a normal office environment.
- You can sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Requires constant trips around the production floor.
