This is an opportunity for an experienced quality professional to take ownership of the quality function within an established industrial manufacturing and fabrication shop in Leduc, Alberta.
This is not a quality role that operates from behind a desk. You will work closely with production, engineering, supply chain and leadership to solve problems where they happen, strengthen manufacturing processes and ensure finished products consistently meet engineering, customer and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day quality function within a busy manufacturing and fabrication environment.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve quality procedures, inspection processes, documentation and controls.
- Ensure manufactured and fabricated components meet engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances and customer requirements.
- Work directly with welders, fabricators, machinists, assemblers and production leadership to investigate and resolve quality concerns.
- Manage non-conformances, root cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with engineering and operations to improve manufacturability, consistency and overall product quality.
- Support supplier quality activities and work with purchasing and suppliers to resolve recurring material or component issues.
- Maintain appropriate inspection methods, measurement equipment, calibration requirements and quality records.
Qualifications
- Several years of progressive quality experience within manufacturing, fabrication, industrial equipment or a related environment.
- Previous experience as a Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance Manager or in a similar quality leadership role.
- Strong practical understanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
- Strong knowledge of non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Experience developing, maintaining or improving a Quality Management System.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work directly with production teams to identify practical solutions.
