Your Role On Our Team We’re looking for a dynamic Development Manager to join our team and drive the success of both large-scale suburban land developments (100+ acre parcels) and innovative inner-city multifamily projects. This is a unique opportunity to work across diverse project types and make a lasting impact on Calgary’s urban and suburban landscape. In This Role, You WillProject Leadership & Development

  • Lead the end-to-end development process—from due diligence and planning to approvals and execution.
  • Manage submissions for development approvals (Outline Plans, NSPs, zoning amendments, subdivisions, site plans, etc.).
  • Coordinate with municipal authorities and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and servicing plans.
  • Conduct site visits and public meetings as needed.
  • Negotiate key agreements (development, cost-sharing, permits, etc.) and manage consultant teams.

Strategic Planning & Market Insight

  • Perform in-depth property research and due diligence to support acquisition and development decisions.
  • Analyze market trends and competing developments to inform project strategy.
  • Monitor municipal planning initiatives and provide internal reporting on policy changes and council decisions.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Inspire and lead cross-functional project teams with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and results.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a high-performance, values-driven culture.
  • Promote health and safety standards across all project activities.

Education & ExperienceWe would like you to have:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in land development, planning, or municipal approvals.
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-phase projects.
  • Experience with financial modeling, cost analysis, and project reporting.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for community-building.
  • Skilled negotiator with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Project); AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with municipal development agreements and the MGA.
