Apply today to join a firm that is dedicated to you. We are seeking a Lawyer, General Counsel Office to join our team in any of our offices! The Lawyer, General Counsel Office is responsible for supporting the General Counsel in all aspect of risk management and the Firm's compliance policies and procedures. In this role, the incumbent will be tasked to supporting the General Counsel in researching risk management and ethics questions, answering risk management and ethics questions from Firm members, drafting and updating Firm policies, and reviewing contracts from Firm members. Key Responsibilities Risk Management

  • Support the General Counsel in duties related to compliance, ethics and regulatory issues.
  • Support the General Counsel in the updating of risk related policies.
  • Along with the General Counsel, provide legal advice to the management and leadership of the Firm.
  • Provide professional development training on risk management.
  • Review and provide comments on Firm’s contracts with vendors.
  • Perform legal research and prepare memoranda relating to professional responsibility and risk management.
  • Answer ethics and risk management questions from Firm members.

  • Other duties as required.

What You'll Bring

  • Licensed LLB / JD and in good standing.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in a Risk Management role at a large law firm or in-house or equivalent.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills and be able to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Substantive working knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Working understanding of large law firm processes and procedures, as well as general familiarity with the various practice areas of the firm.
  • Effective time management and the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with legal research and writing.
  • Familiarity with business organizational/governance/ownership models, structures, and interrelationships.
