Position Summary
The General Manager for Sales and Operations is the senior operational and sales leader for MHZ‑NA. This role has full P&L responsibility, managing day-to-day operations of the organization while also driving national sales performance and market growth. The GM balances hands‑on operational leadership (finance, HR, administration, and logistics oversight) with strategic sales leadership, managing and coaching a national sales team across Canada.
This role reports to the Advisory Board and works closely with MHZ headquarters in Germany to align strategy, budgets, product launches, and operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
General Management & Operations
- Full responsibility for budget achievement
- Provide overall leadership and direction for MHZ‑NA’s day-to-day operations.
- Ensure efficient and compliant business operations across sales, administration, logistics, and customer support.
- Develop and execute annual operating plans and budgets in alignment with the sales team and board‑approved targets.
- Monitor organizational performance against financial, operational, and strategic goals.
- Act as the primary liaison between MHZ‑NA and MHZ headquarters in Germany.
Sales Leadership & Business Development
- Lead, coach, and manage a national outside sales team.
- Set annual and quarterly sales targets by region, product category, and key accounts.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue, dealer networks, and market penetration.
- Support major accounts, key dealers, and strategic commercial opportunities.
- Ensure consistent sales processes, forecasting, CRM usage, and pipeline management.
- Collaborate with MHZ on pricing strategies, product positioning, and new product launches.
- Direct responsibility for selected Key Accounts
- Identify and develop new sales areas up to the point where the positioning of a new sales rep is sustainable
- Commercial project management
- Identification of new market and product opportunities including the guidance and cooperation with MHZ Germany (R&D, Marketing, etc.)
- Planning and executing of GTM strategies including new product introduction, dealer support programs, bonus programs, etc.
Financial Management
- Own full PNL responsibility for MHZ‑NA.
- Prepare, manage, and present annual budgets, forecasts, and variance reports to the Advisory Board.
- Monitor cash flow, margins, operating costs, and working capital.
- Approve expenditures within delegated authority and escalate exceptions as required.
- Oversee accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting.
Human Resources & Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and support a small, high‑performing team across sales, administration, and customer support.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards and HR best practices in Canada.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer‑focused culture.
- Manage compensation structures, commissions, and incentive programs in alignment with business goals.
Operations & Customer Experience
- Oversee order flow, logistics coordination, and customer service processes.
- Work closely with MHZ Germany on production planning, lead times, and supply chain issues.
- Ensure a high standard of customer service for dealers and commercial partners.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Governance & Reporting
- Prepare regular operational, sales, and financial reports for the Advisory Board.
- Escalate risks, opportunities, and supply issues in a timely manner.
- Support board meetings with insights and decision‑ready information.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance, authorization limits, and internal controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7-10 years of progressive hands-on experience in sales leadership. Additional experience in general management or business operations is an asset.
- Proven success track in the growth of sales organizations
- Proven experience managing a national or multi‑regional sales team.
- Strong financial acumen with hands‑on experience managing budgets, PNL, and forecasts.
- Experience overseeing HR, operations, and administrative functions in a small‑to‑mid‑sized organization.
- Background in manufacturing, building products, construction, or technical B2B sales is an asset.
- Experience working with international headquarters or complex organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions
- Office based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with regular collaboration across North America.
- Travel required within Canada, the USA, and occasional travel to Germany.

Salary Range: $120,000, plus performance bonuses
