Founded in 1997, Medicure is a Winnipeg-based pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products for patients and prescribers in the United States market, with a US pharmacy subsidiary business.
With the direction of the Compliance Officer, the Compliance Associate works with Medicure staff to maintain industry compliance from a US state and federal regulatory perspective and works with a team to ensure a high-level of compliance is followed and areas of inadequacies are corrected. Major functions of this position are to support licensure renewal for Medicure and its pharmacy subsidiaries, maintain compliance SOP’s, assign compliance training, assist in the assessment of Medicure’s business opportunities and ideas and other document matters.

Responsibilities:
- Application and renewal of state and federal licenses for Medicure and its pharmacy subsidiaries.
- Supporting credentialling with applicable PSAO and record maintenance with agencies including NCPDP and NABP.
- Reporting discipline from any state or federal regulatory agencies as directed by the Compliance Officer.
- Maintaining and updating compliance SOP’s (MA, SA, GE & MT).
- Assigning training for new hires in Medicure’s LMS platform as outlined by Medicure’s training matrix.
- Assisting in evaluating the compliance and legal considerations for new business opportunities and ideas.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of compliance training related to the corporate compliance program.
- Supporting in investigation of compliance inquiries, reports, complaints and grievances.
- Conducting periodic audits to assess compliance with company policies, state and federal laws and regulations as directed by the Compliance Officer.
- Developing and maintaining a current working knowledge of state and federal regulations/policies that applies to Medicure’s business and proactively monitors and interprets existing and proposed legislation and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or certification as a legal assistant or paralegal is preferred, but not required. We will train.
- Able to process information quickly and react to requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; comfortable working independently and with a group.
- Demonstrated ability for attention to detail.
- Must be a team player with the ability to shift priorities based on needs of the business and required deadlines.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to communicate concisely and professionally both in verbal and written form.
- Must be highly reliable.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
