Senior Data Engineer

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a 6 month contract role with a client of ours located in Vancouver Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support the clients AI's data needs.
• Work closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Implement and optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data pipelines.
• Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new data sources and technologies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering best practices and standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, SQL).
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
• Proven ability to leverage AI concepts and solutions for rapid development.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Nice To Have

• Experience with dbt (data build tool).
• Familiarity with Prefect for workflow orchestration.
• Understanding of data analytics schema concepts (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
• Experience utilizing AgenticAI for automated data extraction.
• Knowledge of Fivetran for data integration.
