Position Overview:

Are you passionate about product development and innovation? Do you thrive in a multidisciplinary environment? We are seeking a skilled Product Development Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team. This role offers the opportunity to work on various product development projects, ensuring that they are completed within schedule, budget, and quality constraints. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring new products to market and improve existing ones based on customer feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Oversee and manage the complete product development process, including the creation of designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot new and existing product issues involving designs, materials, and processes, providing creative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing teams to ensure product success.
  • Standards and Evaluation: Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation, and select and periodically review suppliers/vendors.
  • Technical Lead in Project Management: Manage technical aspects of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality, technical, and cost requirements.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to materials, labor efficiency, transportation, and storage.
  • Manufacturability: Work with the manufacturing department to ensure that product designs are optimized for manufacturability and operational requirements.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that products exceed customer specifications.
  • AI Integration: Utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT to optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve overall productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and strong understanding of engineering principles and terminology.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tackling challenges.
  • AI Knowledge: Familiarity with AI integration tools is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Language: Bilingual in French and English
  • Travel: Availability to travel 10 to 15% of the time.
