Job Description:
The Senior Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer is solely responsible for the design, configuration, customization, and support of Guidewire PolicyCenter solutions. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise in PolicyCenter product model configuration, underwriting rules, UI (PCF), Gosu development, data model extensions, validations, forms, and policy lifecycle management.
Candidates must have extensive real-world experience implementing PolicyCenter in production environments and must be able to independently deliver complex PolicyCenter enhancements end to end. This is a hands-on senior engineering role, not an architecture-only or supervisory position.
Core Responsibilities (Mandatory)
- Guidewire PolicyCenter Configuration & Customization
- Design, configure, and enhance Guidewire PolicyCenter for new and existing insurance products.
- Perform direct hands-on configuration of:
- Product Model
- UI (PCF screens)
- Data Model (entity extensions, schema changes)
- Configure and maintain coverages, exclusions, conditions, modifiers, and terms strictly aligned with documented business requirements.
- Ensure all configurations follow Guidewire best practices and are production-ready.
- Product Model & Line of Business Support
- Create, modify, and retire products, coverages, and terms within the PolicyCenter product model.
- Support Personal Property Line of Business implementations, including:
- Accurate product setup
- Policy lifecycle behavior
- Endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and rewrites
- Support new product rollouts and enhancements to existing products without functional regressions.
- Underwriting Rules & Business Logic
- Create, update, and retire underwriting issues in PolicyCenter based on underwriting guidelines.
- Implement underwriting rules, eligibility logic, and risk evaluation logic using Gosu.
- Translate underwriting business rules into scalable, maintainable technical solutions without ambiguity.
- Ensure underwriting logic behaves correctly across all policy lifecycle events.
- UI, Data Model & Integrations
- Develop and maintain PolicyCenter UI changes using PCF and Gosu, including screens, workflows, and page logic.
- Perform data model changes, including:
- Entity extensions
- Field additions
- Schema updates
- Ensure strict data integrity, consistency, and validation across PolicyCenter and integrated systems.
- Support integrations by ensuring PolicyCenter data structures and behaviors are integration-ready.
- Validations, Error Handling & Quality
- Implement PolicyCenter validations and error-handling logic to prevent invalid policy data entry.
- Investigate and resolve PolicyCenter defects across development, test, and production environments.
- Perform and support:
- Unit testing
- System testing
- Defect fixes and regression validation
- Ensure changes are released with zero known high- or critical-severity defects.
- Forms & Documents
- Configure, update, and maintain PolicyCenter forms.
- Create new forms where required.
- Ensure forms:
- Comply with regulatory requirements
- Meet business rules
- Are correctly triggered within PolicyCenter workflows
- Rating Configuration
- Configure and support PolicyCenter rating, including:
- Rate tables
- Calculation logic
- Rating rules
- Support rating enhancements and defect resolution.
- Ensure rating outputs are accurate, consistent, and compliant with business rules.
- Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Work directly with:
- Business Analysts
- Product Owners
- QA teams
- Architects
Participate in:
- Design sessions
- Code reviews
- Technical solution planning
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior PolicyCenter developers.
- Own assigned deliverables from design through production deployment.
Required Skills & Experience (All Mandatory)
- Minimum 6 years of Guidewire development experience, with significant, hands-on focus on PolicyCenter.
- Proven, hands-on expertise in:
- Guidewire PolicyCenter
- Gosu
- PCF
- Guidewire Studio
- Product Model configuration
Demonstrated experience delivering:
- PolicyCenter product model updates
- Coverage updates
- UI changes
- Data model extensions
- Underwriting issues (create / update / retire)
- Validations and error handling
- Forms configuration and development
- Rating configuration
Strong understanding of:
- Insurance policy lifecycle
- Policy issuance, endorsement, renewal, cancellation, and rewrite processes
- Ability to independently analyze requirements and implement solutions without supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 6 years of Guidewire development experience with production PolicyCenter implementations.
