A nationally established business law firm is continuing the growth of its banking practice in Montreal and is seeking a senior Banking & Financial Services Lawyer to join its team. The firm advises a sophisticated client base composed of financial institutions, private lenders, investment funds and businesses on strategic transactions and complex financing matters. This opportunity is suited to a professional looking to grow within a collaborative, business-oriented environment offering significant exposure to national and cross-border mandates as well as multidisciplinary teams recognized across the market. The Role As a Banking & Financial Services Lawyer, you will work on a broad range of matters involving commercial lending, secured financing, restructurings and strategic financial transactions. You will play a key role in file management, client relationships and the growth of the practice while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Canada. Responsibilities
- Advise financial institutions, lenders and businesses on financing transactions
- Participate in secured financings, syndicated financings and financial restructurings
- Draft and negotiate credit agreements, security documents and financing documentation
- Structure complex financial transactions
- Participate in due diligence reviews related to financings and acquisitions
- Analyze issues relating to guarantees, security interests and priorities
- Collaborate with business law, insolvency and tax groups
- Maintain direct client relationships and act as a strategic advisor
- Participate in business development and the visibility of the practice
- Mentor junior lawyers when required
Requirements
- Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in banking and financial services law
- Significant experience in commercial lending and complex financial transactions
- Strong negotiation, drafting and strategic skills
- Good understanding of corporate and financial matters
- Ability to manage complex matters autonomously
- Strategic judgment, rigor and strong prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Solution-oriented and client-service mindset
- Bilingualism in French and English
