Job Overview

We are seeking a Family Law Paralegal with at least three years of experience to support a busy family law litigation lawyer at our firm. The successful candidate will manage key aspects of active files, prepare court documents and assist with trial preparation while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, organization and professionalism.

Duties

  • Draft pleadings including Notice of Family Claims, Notice of Applications, affidavits and trial briefs
  • Attend court where applicable
  • Prepare and file court materials in accordance with Supreme Court Family Rules and Provincial Court Family Rules
  • Assist counsel with trial preparation including document management, exhibit preparation and court binders
  • Conduct legal research using Canlii, LexisNexis and other legal research tools
  • Manage case files using LEAP, Clio and similar document management systems
  • Assist with client interviews and gather relevant information for case preparation
  • Proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements
  • Coordinate with clients, counsel and court personnel by phone and email using professional communication standards
  • Organize and track deadlines for filings, hearings and other case-related activities
  • Support project management tasks related to ongoing family law matters
  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling appointments, calendar management and correspondence handling

Must Haves

  • Paralegal Diploma or Certificate from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in family law litigation
  • Strong working knowledge of BC Online Court Filing system
  • Experience with the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA) systems

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with LEAP and CLIO
  • Driver's License
