The Project Coordinator reports to Facilities Management and must be able to make decisions where precedents are clear and apply trades expertise, interpret policies, procedures, regulation or codes, seeking the assistance of Facilities management when required. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. POSTING DETAILS

- Schedule - Continuing Assignment, 40 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates the on-site work for multiple trade projects as assigned by Management and ensures compliance with the BC Building Code as well as regulatory agencies.
- Establish preliminary plans and work schedule to be reviewed by Management and liaise directly with customers to clearly define the scope of work and the requirements.
- Conducts site visits to ensure the project is progressing as planned and troubleshoots as required.
- Prepares a summarized cost estimate and project completion timeline for the Manager.
- Monitors project cost and brings concerns to the attention of the Manager/Director.
- Conducts site inspections during the project and upon completion by looking for deficiencies related to warranty and/or other concerns.
- Liaises with Foremen and Leadhands to coordinate the services of various trades departments.
- Prepares working drawings for minor renovations and projects which include the details for all trades work.
- Coordinates and manages situations where the project involves the use of outside contractors.
- Maintains facility operations by considering the impact of any disruptions that accompany each type of project.
- Performs trades duties consistent with the incumbent’s field as required.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 and a Red Seal Trades Qualification Certificate in a construction trade.
- Seven years related construction experience in an industrial/commercial setting.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade, including the BC Building Code, Fire & Safety codes, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computers including CAD and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player who is able to work with staff, various trades, the public, contractors, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively using tact and discretion in the explanation and
- clarification of relevant project information.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and problem solve effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings and specifications.
- Physical ability to perform required duties.
- B.C. Driver's License.
