Job Description

Posted on: April 4, 2026

Simons was founded in 1840 by John Simons in Quebec City. Originally a dry goods store, the family company is known today for accessible and inspired fashion. It is committed to cultivating creativity and building meaningful relationships with its staff, partners, and clientele. The company cares about the environment and about the communities in which it does business. Simons is recognized as a fashion authority with an original shopping concept. Exclusive collections, emerging local and nationally recognized brands, and pieces by top designer names are all available under one roof in the store’s distinctive zones. At La Maison Simons, we believe that exceptional products start with exceptional raw materials. As the Director of Raw Materials, you will be at the forefront of this vision by leveraging your deep expertise in fabrics, trims, and packaging to support the unique needs of our private label brands. You will build and lead a world-class supplier base capable of delivering high-performance, aesthetically refined, sustainable, and innovative materials. Your understanding of materials—from their composition to their transformation—will be key in supporting design, buying, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle. With a team of passionate experts under your leadership, you will ensure that every creative vision is backed by rigorous material selection, timely delivery, and compliance with Simons' exacting quality and sustainability standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the sourcing and development strategy for raw materials across Simons’ private brands.
  • Oversee quality, regulatory compliance, auditing, and continuous improvement processes across all material suppliers.
  • Lead material trend research and integration of sustainable innovations and technologies.
  • Manage raw material bookings, commitments, and optimize inventory positioning to support production timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Design, Buying, PDP) to ensure appropriate material selection, tracking, and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain strong supplier partnerships and evaluate their performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Inspire, lead, and develop the raw materials team to deliver on speed, quality, and cost objectives.

Desired Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in textile science, fashion, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in fabrics/trims, including 4+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge in wovens, knits, technical fabrics, denim, etc.
  • Expertise in material development, lab testing, and fabric sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Benefits Avalaible

  • A telemedicine service and Employee and Family Assistance Program.
  • Group insurance plan and RRSP.
  • Up to 40% off Simons purchases.

At Simons, people are at the heart of all that we do.
