Role Overview
The Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of Joeys Group of Companies. This position will primarily lead our Microsoft Business Central, Solver and Power BI implementation projects and grow to oversee all financial activities, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The Controller will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely financial information. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in accounting and finance, who can effectively lead a team and support the company's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:Systems and Process Improvement:
· Lead:
o ERP implementation and system conversion project management.
o Business Process documentation and review.
o Solver and Power BI implementation projects.
o Cloud migration project.
o Financial monitoring of projects.
· Implement and maintain robust financial systems, tools, and processes to enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and control.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and enhance data integrity and reporting capabilities.
· Lead initiatives to automate and optimize accounting processes to reduce manual work and increase accuracy.
· Drive continuous improvement in financial operations by identifying and implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
Financial Reporting and FP&A:
· Develop, implement and manage financial reporting processes and systems, including working with all divisions on implementation and alignment in accordance with ASPE, and potentially IFRS in the future.
· Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with ASPE standards.
· Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial reports.
· Lead the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic decision-making and operational planning.
· Develop FP&A function.
· Acquisition/new business modelling.
Accounting Operations:
· Accounting Team: work closely with the accounting manager and support the team.
· Month-End: Implement month end procedures and timelines. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
· Internal controls: Documentation, review and assessment of policies and procedures.
Strategy & Risk Management:
· Support financial analysis and potential strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, new business opportunities, capital investments
· Risk Management: Insurance review.
Qualifications:
CPA or equivalent professional designation.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3-5 years in a management role, preferably within a growing, multi-entity organization.
Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency with financial management software (e.g., Sage 300, Microsoft Business Central, Quickbooks) and advanced Excel skills.
System conversion and change management experience.
Strong understanding of inventory management processes and systems.
Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.
Consumer packaged goods, manufacturing and/or food experience considered an asset.
