ISL’s Bridge Team provides comprehensive bridge engineering services spanning the entire asset lifecycle—from concept planning and preliminary engineering to detailed design, construction, ongoing asset management, condition assessments, rehabilitation, and replacement. ISL’s bridge portfolio includes transportation, pedestrian, and utility bridges at interchanges, over railways, in parks, and water crossings, encompassing both conventional functional designs and innovative solutions using steel, concrete, and timber. Our bridge team supports a broad range of infrastructure components beyond bridges, including retaining walls, culverts, overhead sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures. At times, this work combines applied research with real-world project delivery, highlighting the diversity and technical complexity of our practice. About The Role Joining a team of Bridge and Construction Enthusiasts you will find this next role rewarding as you:
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and related transportation infrastructure, including retaining walls, bridge size culverts, and overhead sign structures.
- Provide technical input for proposals
- Prepare technical reports documenting option analyses
- Develop and maintain detailed design notes and calculations
- Prepare drawing packages and special provisions in support of construction activities
- Develop quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior technical staff
- Review construction submittals and provide technical support during construction
- Conduct limited field inspections and travel for field work, as required

Ready to throw your name in?Your Cover Letter And Resume Should Show Us
- P. Eng designation with APEGA or the ability to register from another province.
- Post secondary education in engineering specializing in structural engineering.
- A minimum of five years of experience in bridge design and/or other structural design.
- Familiarity with Canadian design codes and standards.
- Interested in mentoring others on design best practices.
- Experience delivering new/rehabilitation bridge design from start to finish.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and work with junior staff and technicians within a team environment.
Bonus Points For
- Working towards Masters or post-graduate degree in Structural or Bridge Engineering an asset. M.Eng or MSC specializing in structural.
- Preference given to candidates with experience with Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors or similar provincial clients (BC Ministry of Transportation & Transit)
- Seismic design & retrofit experience an asset.
- Suspension bridge & cable stay experience.
