Role: Accountant

Role Type: Permanent Full-Time, In-Office

Compensation Package: $65,000–$75,000 + 2 weeks’ vacation + health benefits

Location: Etobicoke, ON

About the Company

Our client is a fast-paced, client-focused law firm specializing in real estate transactions. The team is committed to delivering high-quality legal services with professionalism, efficiency, and a personal touch. They are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee financial operations.

Your New Role

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and trust account reconciliation. You will ensure compliance with industry regulations, particularly those set by the Law Society of Ontario, and support the firm’s financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will also handle payroll processing, HST filings, and liaise with external auditors for year-end and tax-related matters. Additional responsibilities include preparing budgets, managing cash flow projections, generating client invoices, and overseeing collections.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with at least three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment. A strong understanding of trust accounting and familiarity with Law Society of Ontario regulations, including By-Law 9, is essential. You should be proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Clio, or PCLaw, and have experience with Canadian payroll systems and tax filings. Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a small team setting are key. A CPA designation or progress toward one is considered an asset, and support for continuing professional development will be provided.

About You

You are detail-oriented, organized, and proactive. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of your responsibilities. You communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders and are committed to maintaining accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of your work.
