Accounting Manager

Freed Developments is seeking an Accounting Manager to join it’s growing Accounting and Finance team. This is a leadership role in a fast-paced company with strong potential for growth. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will take the lead to provide oversight for all aspects of the accounting operations as well as strategic financial insights to support business decision making for multiple entities in the hospitality, construction and real-estate industries. As we are a highly collaborative team, this role is on site full-time, and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office Monday to Friday. This posting is for an open vacancy.

As Accounting Manager you will:

• Provide support to the Financial Controller on more complex financial activities.
• Work with direct reports to determine objectives and goals for each year and advising on their progress to enhance staff professional development.
• Assist in the design and implementation of features and procedures to enhance the accounting department’s workflow.
• Ensure members of the finance team meet all financial reporting deadlines.
• Respond to inquiries from the Director of Finance, and other high-level Managers.
• Train and advise new and existing employees of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Monitor and analyze the financial department to develop more efficient procedures and proper use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Our ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

• Minimum 5 years in progressive accounting roles in a multi discipline environment.
• Completion of a degree/diploma in Accounting/Finance.
• Professional designation (CPA) or working towards, an asset.
• Advanced excel proficiency (IF Statements, VLOOKUP, Pivot tables etc.).
• Tech savvy with Microsoft 365 and various accounting software programs.
• Proficiency with real estate accounting an asset but not a requirement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated organization skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines, exercise judgment in determining priorities and adapt to changes.
• A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
